2012 Tradition of Caring Celebration

In this Section

Just like you, Columbia St. Mary’s is proud to be an involved business leader in the Ozaukee community. We are driven by our mission to make a positive difference for everyone in our Ozaukee community.

We are able to do this work because we have enthusiastic involvement from many community and business leaders that help guide our programs and improve our services making CSM the best choice for health care in Ozaukee.

In particular, we have benefitted from the guidance and support of the Doerr family for the past three decades.

Daniel and Christopher Doerr initiated the “Doerr Tradition of Caring” Award in 2002 to honor those who share their passion for the Ozaukee community and best exemplify leadership, commitment to serve others and an unwavering philanthropic spirit.

It is our distinct honor to announce Gary Newman as the recipient of the 2012 “Doerr Tradition of Caring” Award.

Gary is an outstanding example of someone who had dedicated his time and talent to supporting the Ozaukee community. He served on the Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee Foundation Board of Directors until 2005, from 2008-2009 he was a member of Columbia St. Mary’s Foundation Communications Committee and in 2011 he was integral in getting community members aware of and involved with Columbia St. Mary’s Beyond Medicine fundraising campaign. In 2009, he became one of the inaugural members of the Ozaukee Community Council.

In addition to his involvement with Columbia St. Mary’s, Gary has served on the Board of Directors of Forward Cedarburg and Cedarburg’s Performing Arts Center, he was chairman of the Association of Automobile Dealers of Metropolitan Milwaukee and a past president of the Cedarburg-Grafton Rotary Club.

The "Doerr Tradition of Caring" Award is the highest community honor Columbia St. Mary’s Foundation bestows and now we’re throwing it its own party.

The Tradition of Caring Celebration
Thursday, June 7, 2012
5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Shully’s Garden Pavilion
146 Green Bay Road, Thiensville

We will celebrate Gary and his impact in Ozaukee while enjoying delicious gourmet creations and a festive atmosphere. It is our goal to have this special evening renew our sense of community and strengthen the ties that make Ozaukee such a wonderful place to live and raise our families.

Event proceeds will support the creation of a new, comprehensive Cancer Center at CSM Ozaukee that will open this summer. Serving more than 1,800 patients a year, Columbia St. Mary’s is the first and leading provider of cancer services in Ozaukee and the only one designated as a National Cancer Institute care site. The new Ozaukee Cancer Center will provide comprehensive, holistic patient services including genetic counseling, alternative therapies and expanded Navigator services that guide a patient through their entire care experience, from diagnosis through survivorship.
