Countdown to the "Hospital of the Future"

March Construction Milestones

Complete ceiling tile and flooring on 7th floor.
Complete drywall finishing and prime paint/1st coat in the Operating Rooms.
Install lead drywall at 3rd floor imaging.
Installation of ceilings and overhead inspections at Emergency Department.
Start installing ceiling tile and floors on the 6th floor.
Continue installing millwork and accessories through out the facility.

The new Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Milwaukee opens Fall 2010!

Opening in 2010, this ground-breaking project consolidates Columbia St. Mary’s Columbia and current Lake Drive campuses into one. The new Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Milwaukee will provide the blueprint for healthcare transformation in our community.

The evidence-based design of our new East Side hospital will improve patient outcomes, increase patient satisfaction and aid in the recruitment and retention of top quality staff. In addition, the consolidation will lead to $19 million in annual savings to the organization leading to more affordable health care for everyone.

2010 Construction Milestones

As we look forward to opening our new, consolidated hospital in Fall 2010, many exciting milestones have been reached.

February 2010:

Emergency Department painted.
Headwalls and flooring installed in patient rooms.
Kitchen construction significantly underway.
Drywall installed in Imaging and Invasive areas of the 3rd floor.
Departments moved, including CSM Foundation, to the Heritage Center (formerly the Historic East Facility).

January 2010:

Final demolition on the Lake Drive campus completed. The two-story Todd Wehr Diagnostic Center torn down to prepare for final construction of the new hospital.
Major progress of drywall installation in the atrium, bed tower and emergency department areas completed.
