Dr. Charles Koh is the lead investigator at MIMIS in a nationwide FDA approved study on the prevention of adhesions by the use of a solution called Icodextrin. Trials in Europe have shown that it is effective in reducing adhesions after surgery.

The benefit to patients enrolling in this trial is that the second look laparoscopy that is performed between four to eight weeks after the first surgery is without cost to the patient. The technique of surgery is unchanged and the only difference is that the study solution is used throughout surgery to irrigate tissue and 1 liter of solution is left behind at the end of surgery. This study is double-blind, meaning neither the doctors nor staff know whether the solution used was Icodextrin or a saline solution.

Those interested in this limited time study are asked to contact the Reproductive Specialty Center at (414) 289-9668.
